Weight Loss - Every woman’s nightmare! I never thought that I would be someone who would battle with the problem of excess weight. I had always been really skinny as a child and a teenager. Even after giving birth to my daughter, I managed to maintain a slim and trim physique….Until one day I woke up and looked in the mirror. At the age of 26, I had become depressed, tired, moody and overweight. What happened to me? Life happened to me, that’s what! Juggling a career in IT, family, husband and kid was not easy. Seems like I let myself go… I was addicted to fast food; pastries and everything unhealthy. As a family we would finish at least 2litres of fizzy cold drinks per day. I never drank any water or ate any salads. As the years went by, I was faced with clinical depression; subsequently I went through a Divorce. All these emotional disturbances added to my dietary nightmare. Well, after 2 years of crash diets and temporary fixes, I met an Ayurvedic Doctor, who would change my life forever. She introduced me the art of Yoga and the age old Science of Ayurveda. I was presented & explained with a healthy weight loss diet plan and a balanced exercise plan including Yoga routine. Eating well balanced meals, with plenty of vitamins and nutrients is the key. Drink recommended amount of water daily and follow an exercise programme. This is all I did, and after just 2 months of following the plan, I have lost 9.6kg and still going strong. Healthy eating coupled with daily exercise has made the world of difference. Now I feel alert; awake; enthusiastic; full of energy and most of all, lighter… I feel that I could accomplish absolutely anything. My career is soaring; life as a single mom is wonderful; and it seems like everything is just getting better and better as the days go by. I have never been this happy and healthy in my life and it can only get better from here. I will not lie; it is not an easy task. Cravings get the better of you and you will succumb. I have to warn you though; you need to be in the right state of mind before you endeavor on a journey of this nature. If your mind is not committed, you will never be able to lose any weight. Visualization also helped me through this process. I would visualize myself, in a size 32, the way I used to look and feel 10 years ago. Think “thin” thoughts and concentrate on being at your peek of health. This is a lifestyle change; if you truly want to be healthy and happy then I suggest you follow this tried and tested routine. I wish to inspire all young women out there facing this problem; those who feel they will never loss weight or be beautiful again, or be fit and healthy again. It is very possible!!!!! Imagine how happy you will feel when everything in your wardrobe is too big? Imagine all the heads turning when you walk down the street and in the shopping malls? Imagine all the possibilities and let that be your motivation. Nothing but leading a holistically healthy life will get you to where you want to be!
