My experience about Yoga

I used to think that Yoga is only a spiritual science and you have to be a complete spiritual person to meditate.Dhanurasana - Posture for healthy spine & strong abdominal muscles !

When I first joined Yoga classes, I was determined to master the art of meditation, but wondering at times if I was wasting my time with yoga.

Almost a year later, I am still strong on practising yoga.

Not only have I learnt that indeed it is an art to meditate, but I’ve also learnt that Yoga offers so much more than spiritual attainment.

The mental and physical benefits that I’ve derived from yoga practice have been priceless to me.

Yoga has offered me a disciplined routine of exercising. I know that with Yoga practice, I don’t have to feel guilty about not being a ‘gym-goer’.

I have found a sense of peace and relaxation that didn’t exist in me before joining Yoga. My body has become more flexible and I feel lighter on my toes these days. I am better able to handle stress in my life and have learned to appreciate quality time with my family.

Many people think that Yoga is linked to religion or spirituality. I have learnt that nothing can be further from the truth!

Yoga is about taking control of your body, mind and spirit and you don’t need to be spiritual to do that. All you need is to believe that Yoga time is for you and in your Yoga time, it’s about nobody but you.

Yoga is simply a disciplined and healthy way to achieve physical and emotional stimulation at the same time.

Although I haven’t yet mastered meditation, I have achieved something much more valuable.

I have learnt to value my body, mind and spirit like I never had before. Yoga has made me believe that I matter!

I have just experienced a miscarriage ,10 years after having my first child.

A year ago if this happened to me, I would not have known how to handle the situation. But now when this happened to me, I felt emotionally and physically equipped to handle it. I recovered from the experience very quickly, accepting what has happened.

I feel that I owe this inner strength in me to this wonderful thing called Yoga!
